Twenty-seven cats removed from residence Wednesday | Local

On Dec. 1, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical call at an address in rural Readlyn. Upon deputies’ arrival it was discovered that the patient of the call was caring for several cats.

While the BCSO deputy was at the scene speaking with the family of the patient, the family asked for help in taking care of the cats on the property. The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office reached out to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, and after the situation was explained, they were very happy to assist.

Arrangements were made and with cooperation of the family, on Dec. 11, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa removed 27 cats from the residence.

These cats will be taken back to the shelter in Des Moines where they will receive medical care and later be available for adoption. The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa for making the rescue of these cats.
